Why I Wrote Driver Seat
There are seasons in life when transitions hit without warning and trauma speaks louder than hope. I wrote Driver Seat for the ones standing in that place—caught between what changed, what hurt, and what they’re still trying to understand. I’ve walked with people who smile in public but break in private, who carry the weight of their past in silence, and who feel lost between who they were and who they’re becoming. This book is for the soul who has survived storms, setbacks, and disappointments… yet still wonders how to move forward. It is the reminder that even in your darkest moments, God has never stopped giving you direction. You still have a destination, even when the road feels unfamiliar.
Driver Seat is my declaration that triumph is not accidental—it’s intentional. It’s for the dreamer who got detoured, the leader who lost their confidence, the fighter who’s tired of fighting, and the heart that has given more than it ever received. This book was birthed to help you reclaim your authority, your peace, and your power—to help you rise from what tried to silence you and take your rightful place behind the wheel of your own life. No one else was designed to drive your destiny. This is your moment to take the keys, breathe again, and step boldly into the triumph ahead of you.
About Bishop
Author + Speaker + Minister + Teacher
Bishop Jonathan Everett is a nationally recognized pastor, teacher, and global faith leader based in New Orleans, Louisiana. Grounded in strong family values and a deep faith, he answered the call to ministry at a young age, which opened doors to preach and lead across the United States and internationally. Known for his authentic teaching and people-centered leadership, Bishop Everett carries a message that connects faith to everyday life and empowers individuals to live with purpose.
He currently serves as Senior Pastor of Rock of Ages Baptist Church, where he began his pastoral assignment with just three members. Through faithful leadership, vision, and service, the church experienced unprecedented growth—expanding from three members to over 600 and now flourishing as a ministry of more than 3,500 members. Under his leadership, Rock of Ages has become a catalyst for spiritual growth, community outreach, and global ministry, impacting lives far beyond the walls of the church.

Driver Seat Experience Part II
This is not just an event. This is a conversation that many people are afraid to have, but one that is necessary.
Driver Seat Experience Part II centers around Chapters 6 and 7 of Driver Seat, diving deep into the realities of false imprisonment—not just physically, but emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Because while some prisons have walls… others are built through pain, perception, pressure, and past experiences.
There are people walking free every day… who are still bound.
This night is designed to confront that truth.
Through a powerful fireside chat, we will unpack the weight of false allegations, the reality of unjust situations, and the internal prisons people carry—fear, shame, labels, trauma, and misunderstanding. We will also explore the perspective from both sides—the individuals impacted and the systems that govern justice and accountability.
Joining this conversation are distinguished voices who bring real experience and real perspective:
-
Michelle Woodfork
-
Clint Smith
This will be a night of insight, truth, and necessary dialogue, paired with an atmosphere of connection through music, light bites, and intentional conversation.
This is for those who have ever felt misunderstood.
This is for those who have carried something they never deserved.
This is for those ready to confront, process, and move forward.
Because God may be in control…
but you still have a responsibility to get back in the Driver Seat.
